I'll be honest first: I CHEATED ;___; on Uta without glasses's face, because I couldn't draw her specific shape on the other side so I just copy/pasted the other one and resized it to fit the hair shape -- and on the left eye (our right) of Uta without glasses, it looked smaller and wonky so I resized it too.

Partially why I don't like inking on computer. D: It makes pictures TOO perfect >>;;

Still, there's probably a whole buncha other problems here, too :XD:

Anyway, I wanted to draw away recent frustrations and general blah-egry (plus, I'm procrastinating, hooray!) and felt like experimenting. I like this way of coloring, maybe I'll use it for this story :) Also my third attempt at drawing from scratch on the computer I still don't like doing it, don't know how can people do it WELL. I'll still be sticking with paper.

This is Uta Thursell and her alter-ego, the thief UTA (yeah, real original there, just a capslock change xD). Wayyyyy back in 2001 she was one of a handful of stories that I created almost all at the same time (like Ara & Celi and G&M) and where everyone was naturally Japanese xD (except G&M. That escaped that mania ironically enough) She was originally Uta Utsukushii, which was a play on words if you write it in the original Japanese, last name first:

美しい 歌 (or うつくしい, since I don't know how to make it so that the kanji 美 means the whole thing) = utsukushii uta = "beautiful song"

Of course, now I changed it because I really don't see the need to have that many Japan-based stories :lmao: (A&C will be enough, thank you) I didn't want to change her name Uta to something else though. But! Coincidentally, Uta means something in Finnish, I think (can't find where I found it! :ohnoes: ). It means "wealth" in German supposedly (never heard of it in German) and "prospers in battle" in Romanian. Her last name comes from 'Thrussell' (I actually misspelled it back up there, looks nicer haha) and it is according to behindthename.com: From Old English þrostle meaning "having the characteristics of a song thrush". The earliest form of this name was Throsle, in 1282 in Cheshire

I'd say more about the character, but this descrip would turn out larger than it is already. :giggle: She had a love interest, who thankfully never got developed beyond his original name, so I changed him completely. Hah!

While I'm putting a :iconcritnotdesiredplz1::iconcritnotdesiredplz2::iconcritnotdesiredplz3: here (again, this was for fun), if you feel the need to say something constructive about it, go right ahead :D

Nice job, it just needs some shading.
