Fire Starter

Rewatching the first episode of FLCL on Adult Swim made this idea pop in my head. Just had to do it, that's all :3 I'm sure this idea has been done before. XD The character's Mamimi Samejima, who's a heavy smoker and a pyromaniac. The title/2nd episode title refers to that last aspect.



Wanted to experiment with using textures as shading but that didn't quite work out. So I used gradients instead I know that I never wanted to show the lines (contours) of Mamimi nor her face -- basically imitate graphic design of olden days. .o.



The smoke I am still on the fence about, so here's another version with just white smoke:
