Inking Experiment

Ok, this is a little experiment I did on...Monday? Sunday? Blah.

It was me basically seeing which inks worked better with watercolors -- I know you can 'ink' with watercolors, but I don't feel that confident yet This was done to help me decide what I should do for this picture's new version (which is practically finished being pencilled! ) While I'm thinking that I could also do it digitally, I'm really eager to practice coloring traditionally. Having something made with your hands gives me tingly feelings

I used Nancy from G&M ~Märchen~ as model <3



ANYWAY xD On to the explanations on as to why we got two pics in one:

Left is the untouched original experiment; right is the one with the colored lines indicating what type of inks/pens have been used.

Magneta/red line: inked with calligraphy pen/marker.

Blue line: inked with...well, actually I should say pencilled with a black Prismacolor color pencil

Yellow green line: inked with Micron pens.

The 'BECAUSE WE ARE THE STRANGE' line (taken from the movie title) was done with India Ink diluted with a bit of water (I was using a brush instead of a proper pen ) By the way, that movie was...weird I kinda liked it by the end 8D



The blob next to Nancy is another experiment with India Ink. First I drew the lines, then colored. This actually let me see that for colors like violet, it might be a good idea to ink later (orange line )

The black line is how the ink looked after coloring.
