OLD 2004: The Color Kids IV

From 2004:
Left to right: MoonGlo and Stormy. I did two versions because I didn't like the first drawing and I wanted to do it again. I didn't finish coloring MoonGlo for the same reason I didn't finish coloring the guys.

I had a bout of nostalgia, specifically with 80's American animation that were part of my childhood thanks to Blockbuster having VHS copies, such as Jem, Popples, Strawberry Shortcake, My Little Pony, Care Bears and Rainbow Brite.

Which is why I was miffed/annoyed when they re-released Care Bears, My Little Pony and Strawberry Shortcake with new designs along the years. I understand the need to update for a new generation but at the same time, it looks as if they updated it and kinda simplified them more than they should have. That, and remakes are never good. Like I say, originals are always better.

That's why I'm sad at this piece of news. Well, at least this remake's design is closer to the original...even though the first thought that went through my mind was "She looks like a glorified perverse version of Miley Cyrus and Lindsay Lohan." Well, not exactly. I used the word that starts with an 's' in my head.


Of course back in 2004, none of this had obviously not happened yet. I decided to draw the cast of Rainbow Brite, following the original faces as close as I can and see whether I could modify a bit (but not too much) the designs. I don't think I did this but you can be the judge of that

And no, I didn't get to do Twink, Starlite, Chris, Onyx, Brian, Murky nor Lurky :3
