Description
Such a lackluster title, and yet appropriate Also I know this has anatomy mistakes. The goal was coloring style, not proper, uh, properness. Critique everything else if you want, but I already know some things look off!
Doing some more experiments in between commissions, this time trying out a method I speed-read in a book at Jo-Ann -- I was checking it out in a hurry, oops but I'm definitely going to try and buy it in the future. I rarely check out these books but this one had surprisingly good tips! It's called Shojo Wonder Manga Art School for those interested, and it's by !
The method was laying down the background first, and then coloring with markers on top. The difference I made however, was that instead of inking first and then background, I laid the basic sketch down with a F lead pencil and then did the rest. I ended up doing an Akemi Takada on this almost! (My brain even started playing "Mou Hitotsu no Yesterday" halfway through, haha) I liked how it turned out, to say the least.
My scanner ruined the background of course :I It had pearlescent watercolors in addition to a nice golden color and shadow...
My main reason for this experiment though, was seeing if it would work for a banner I'm planning/hoping to have for Midwest Comicon in November. Seeing as how it did, I'm going to start preparing myself for days of adventure once I finish one commission. Whooof.
