Hey, y'all!


Long time no update but I figure, maybe just using deviantART once in a while to shill my things isn't a bad idea? In case you haven't found out, I'm the co-mod of a fandom zine for Ririka SOS, a series near and dear to my heart. Here's the general idea behind the zine, which is meant to celebrate 25 years of the show:

Unlike most zines which concentrate on the visual illustrative aspect, we aim to create a zine where ALL media is welcome. Besides illustrations, this includes, but not limited to: writing, cosplay, comics, essays, etc. We want to be able to create a comprehensive product showing off the small but dedicated Ririka SOS fandom - and we believe that showcasing all the different talents from each person or group is a fantastic way to celebrate the series' silver jubilee! If there is a medium you work in that may not be conventional for the traditional zine format, do not hesitate to reach out to us!

We were on a great schedule to release this by July 7th, the date of the show's debut, but uh a LOT of things happened besides the pandemic and thus, we couldn't release on that day. But we still want to celebrate it and better late than never. We had a robust interest check and right now we are looking for contributors! We want writers, artists, cosplayers to do anything and everything they ever wanted to do, if they're fans of the show/manga/everything!

Livestream Saturday!

Trying out how to keep up with things on here work now by using Eclipse instead of the old switching option, since Eclipse will be permanent soon...and wow, incredible how some things can be way easier to do (I can upload images on here without a weird workaround, being an un-paying member of DA), and yet, most of it is borked XD I do like how the buttons work.


Anyway, I'm doing a livestream this Saturday on Twitch! I've mentioned most everywhere it'll either be an inking and/or coloring stream, but it really depends how I feel by then, haha. I'll be streaming at 3PM Central Standard TIME (CST) in the US, and I'll run...idk whenever how long I'll run.

Ericon tomorrow! Patreon! Comic collective!

Hi, everyone! I have been so bad at alerting ppl of stuff @_@;; ...I announce things either right before they happen or long after the fact!

Tomorrow Saturday, I'll be at Ericon again this year! From 1 to 5pm at Ericson Public Library in Boone, Iowa! I'll have my usual wares and entry's free, would be nice to see some of you there!

I'm honestly giving a Patreon a go for some reasons: one is that I, like everyone else, wanted to get grandfathered in with the old tier system Patreon had before they decided to raise prices and fees for new/future campaigns. Another is that I was actually waiting for drip (d.rip/) to open for the public -- it opened about two or three years ago, as Patreon competition. I really liked what they had to offer + syncing it with your Kickstarter account seemed fine and dandy. And while they're still in beta-testing and figuring out the kinks...man, I'll cop to being ignorant about how these things work but jeezus, even DA's beta-testing is faster! :bademoticon:  At this rate, it seems more like a fancy club... (Again, will cop to being ignorant and petty.)


I posted about this elsewhere on my birthday (hooray, 31!), so right now I'd like to say thanks to everyone who's subscribed (paid? patreon'd?) to me so far! That's :iconjojoseames: :iconalbonia: and :iconchandrahabein: Hug (I gotta shout 'em out on twitter too, but watch as I forget again to do it this week. I've been having memory problems lately with my own stuff. Maybe it's all the IRL stuff I've had to deal with in the past month :lmao: )


Speaking of forgetting, I've forgotten to upload art on here and elsewhere...or rather, I remember to do it elsewhere but not here. I think my blahness for DA that I've mentioned before in the past year alone has finally coagulated** into "I don't care anymore." I even forget to check this website anymore, until I remember I have friends on here only, and some artists who are here only too. But mostly friends I'd like to keep in touch at least once in a while XD But yeah, I've forgotten about DA more than I think I should, and that should make me feel bad, because I think I did get good stuff and friends on here. But I also, just. This website hasn't given me what it used to in years.

(If it ever did, but that's a tangent for another day.)

And with the necessary evil (ugh) that is spreading yourself across platforms just so you can get some audience (DOUBLE UGH, MAKE IT ALL CENTRALIZED) and the result being now you have about 50 sites to check (TRIPLE BANANA SPLIT UGH)...my brain cannot take it anymore, I'm serious. I've lost brain cells anytime I actually have to make a small to-do list for sites alone Crying So yeah...I don't think I'll be uploading on DA unless I remember and do it on the day I remember. But I'll log in to see friends.


Anyway. Last bit of news. I made a webcomic collective for magical girls! (Again, link if DA doesn't work: aradiacollective.weebly.com/ ) It's called Aradia, so named after Aradia: Gospel of the Witches. Give it a google, fascinating stuff and perfect reference for a genre that started with witches :moon: :brew: A while back, I asked on twitter if there was any interest in this sort of thing -- it came about because I was thinking about how there were a lot more magical girl webcomics that I had thought, and how nice it would be to have a collective database of sorts. Some comics have stopped uploading or disappeared (and luckily, I actually was in time to archive some of them or use wayback machine itself), but I was still curious about this from an archival/historical point. Plus, hey, I really like seeing what spin webcomics do on this genre!

So yeah, a collective that serves as well, a collective for cool people to gather and check each other out as well as eventually serve as a database of comics within the genre. Never let it be said that I'm not always an ambitious sort who then regrets being so, HAHA oh boi.
